If I had a weekend at Loxley Barn what would I do?


Relax in the garden in the sunshine.

Sit in the Summer house and read in the shade or evening

Walk across the fields to the canal in Wilstone. If I had children, I would stop at the park on route. 

Have a snack at PE Mead Farm Shop 

Gin Tasting at Campfire Gin

Walk home

Look at the Old Chapel Tower at the end of Chapel Lane

Enjoy dinner at the Stag i Mentmore (5 minutes Drive)  or a pub meal  at the Queen's Head in the village

If I had a weekend at Loxley Barn what would I do?

Visit Waddesdon Manor  Open Wed-Sun, 10am-5pm:  Waddesdon Manor was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild between 1874 and 1885 to display his collection of arts and to entertain the fashionable world.

It is absolutely beautiful- Grounds, House, Aviary, Coach House Gallery, Woodland Playground, Manor wine and gift shop, shuttle buses, toilets, Manor Restaurant (for afternoon teas only, pre-booking advised), takeaway food and drink is available across the grounds.

You could spend a whole afternoon here. 

A perfect walk: 

Walk down the lane  to the end of Chapel Lane, look around the old Chapel Tower, walk left along the footpath, pass the pond, cross the field, cross the road (Astrope Lane), walk along the little path, across the field, through the wood, pass the nature reserve, cross the road (if very muddy walk left and across the bridge, or otherwise straight over, pass hay bales, towards canal, over the canal bridge, children can have a play in Wilstone Park, have a quick drink in the Half Moon Pub, continue walking down the road towards the reservoirs. Turn left at the end of the road to PE Mead farm shop for a lovely cafe, Gin Distillery and gift shop or right for the reservoir.

If I had a weekend at Loxley Barn what would I do?

Walk along the canal to Waters  Edge Cafe then onto the  to the Reservoirs. Enjoy a picnic, watch the wildlife. (or just drive to the reservoirs and have fish and chips at The Anglers. 


Drive to Tring and enjoy a wander around the village. A quick stroll around the memorial garden. 

Lunch/ Dinner at the Akeman pub /  Storria  Restaurant or a snack at Nonna's


Drive to Wendover Woods. A walk

A trip to Ramsey's Chocolate Shop!

Bletchley Park is an English country house and estate in Bletchley, Milton Keynes that became the principal centre of Allied code-breaking during the Second World War.

You could spend a whole afternoon here.
